After competing/surviving in this weekend's 24 Hours of Victory Lane endurance event at Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte, I'm bound for Los Angeles for the annual Motor Press Guild Dean Batchelor Awards, recognizing excellence in automotive journalism since 1995. "In The Red" has been nominated for the award in the "Book" category for 2012. It's a cool honor to be recognized by the automotive press - and special thanks to Lee Klancher and the folks at Octane Press, publishers of "In The Red."
The event will take place at the Peterson Automotive Museum, a superb venue for car lovers in Southern California. It's worth a visit if you're near!
UPDATE: Due to a surreal couple of days being stranded in Louisville, Ky (my car was disabled due to filling up with fuel from a BP station with 11 inches (!) of water in their premium fuel tank.), I was very heartbroken to miss the awards ceremony. The book category award was presented to Karl Ludvigsen for his historical tome on Porsche.
